LAHORE: The Uch Sharif Trust, in collaboration with the Department of Archeology, the University of the Punjab, Lahore, will organise a seminar to highlight the Cultural Heritage of Uch Sharif in the second week of October 2008. The researches and scholars of international repute will read their papers on various facets of Uch Sharif.
The city has witnessed the rise and fall of many dynasties. Unfortunately, some NGOs and other adventures have not gone beyond the documentation of the monuments and no serious attempt has been initiated to unravel the history of this city in this true perspective.
A number of scholars have confirmed their participation in the seminar and efforts are being made to pursue foreign scholars to attend the seminar.
The seminar will provide an opportunity to the experts for interaction amongst themselves and introduce the marvels of Islamic architecture to the people of Pakistan and those interested in the subject in foreign countries.
The committee has also decided to invite the UNESCO functionaries and international agencies working for the preservation of cultural heritage. (Thanks: The Post May 31, 2008)
